Having taught in universities for a significant part of my career I am still as passionate about teaching as ever. I truly believe that communicating skills, knowledge and the creativity that teaching embraces, re-enforces my own abilities and engagement with the art of painting. I regularly use mass-class demonstrations as a means of showing students the various methods, materials and ideas that go towards making an artwork. These range from hour long sessions and plein air work to the development of a painting over several weeks.
My teaching is now limited as I need time to spend on my own work, however I still run an art group one afternoon a week in Bentley, near Farnham. I enjoy working with mature students and welcome interest from amateur painters irrespective of ability and experience.
