Rural Rides
‘Rural Rides’ is a series of paintings inspired by a journey of William Cobbett around Surrey and Hampshire in the early 19th century. The locations used for these paintings take inspiration from his text and it’s the elements of history and narrative that I found interesting. Features of the 21st century are largely removed from the paintings leaving the light, the sky and features of the landscape to create the historical theatre that that I want to create.
